Q: What’s covered in the Love and Logic Institute’s seminal course:
Becoming a Love and Logic Parent©?
A: Cleverly designed modules allow you to have fun while:

1. Creating home environments that stimulate responsibility, resiliency, and academic achievement.
2. Eliminating misbehavior & avoiding power struggles while setting limits.
3. Teaching character & responsibility through modeling.
4. Applying logical consequences rather than punishment.
4. Teaching children healthy problem-solving skills.
5. Staying calm in stressful parenting situations.
6. Helping children be prepared to resist drugs, alcohol, violence, and other dangerous behaviors.

Q: When’s the best time to begin using Love and Logic©?
A: As Jim says, “As soon as they can spit beets!”
The authors have designed this program to help parents with very young children all the way through the teenage years and beyond. Happily, we find that it’s NEVER too late to start the process. It’s never too late to improve relationships with those we love.

Q: How is Early Childhood Parenting Made Fun!® different from Becoming a Love and Logic Parent®?
A: The Early Childhood program was developed with an appreciation of the increased pressures of parenting children who, at this point, have emerging language use, coordination, and small motor skills. It provides parents with a treasure chest of tools that go from “coping” to really “enjoying” the adventure of being a parent. It’s geared to meet needs specific to this stage of development. Q: If I can buy a book, why take a class?
A: A comment by an enthusiastic graduate of the workshop sums it up, I’d read the book and listened to the CDs, but until I was actually in the class, heard the instructor, viewed the media presentations and interacted with the other participants, I had no idea of the power of the program. I’m a convert to Love and Logic. It’s revolutionized our lives!

True, the Love and Logic© Institute provides a plethora of delightful and informative materials in audio, visual, and print format, as well as downloadable support through their website, but nothing beats the workshop venue. Being able to interact with the facilitator and other parents provides a feeling of “strength in numbers,” as parents share challenges and successes, frustrations and triumphs, in a safe and supportive environment. Other families are experiencing some of the same issues you are!

Q: What if my spouse can’t or won’t take the class? Will it still work ?
A: Naturally it’s ideal for parents to be in sync, but situations around schedules, fragmented families, and varied interest levels make it difficult. The authors have found that children are flexible and will adapt to various disciplinary styles. Most parents report that after a spouse or partner witnesses the effectiveness of the Love and Logic© techniques, they usually want to get “on the same page” and begin to enjoy parenting in a whole new way. After all, actions really do speak louder than words.

Q: Is there really a guarantee?
A: In the introduction to PARENTING WITH LOVE AND LOGIC, the book co-authored by Jim Fay and Foster Cline, Ph.D., you’ll find these words, “We believe so strongly in the message of our books that we are making this quality guarantee to you. If for any reason you are disappointed with the content of this book, return the title page...and we will refund to you the list price of the book!”
